State Winter Games

Join Special Olympics North Dakota at the Bottineau Winter Park for the 2018 SOND State Winter Games. The multi-sport event held January 26-27, 2018, will feature close to 100 participants from communities across North Dakota competing in the sports of Alpine Skiing, Cross Country Skiing, and Snow Shoe racing.

A Special Night Out

Join us at restaurants statewide on February 6th for "A Special Night Out!" This event was created to help raise funds and awareness for the North Dakota athletes who will be attending the Special Olympics USA games. The 2018 games, which will be in Seattle, Washington from July 1st to 7th, provide athletes with a once in a lifetime experience that they will remember forever. The event will showcase the awe-inspiring abilities of athletes with intellectual disabilities, promote the ideals of acceptance and inclusion through sport and celebrate the transformative power of Special Olympics. SOND will be represented by a contingent of athletes with and without intellectual disabilities.

For the 38th consecutive year, the city of Minot will serve as host of the Special Olympics North Dakota (SOND) State Basketball Tournament. More than 400 Special Olympics athletes from communities throughout North Dakota will compete in the two-day event.
Tentative Schedule:
Friday, March 9th
7:30 a.m. - Volunteer Registration opens @ MiSU Dome
9:15 a.m. - Basketball Pairing round matches begin @ MiSU Dome
10:00 a.m. - Individual Skills Competition begins
12:30 p.m. - Opening Ceremony and Parade of Athletes @ MiSU Dome
1:30 p.m. - Basketball Team Competition begins
7:30 p.m. - Athlete Dance
Saturday, March 10th
7:30 a.m. - Volunteer Registration opens @ MiSU Dome
9:00 a.m. - Basketball competition continues
2:00 p.m. - Basketball Tournament Awards Ceremony
*All events are free and the public is encouraged to attend!

MiSU Dome, MiSU Swain Hall, Bishop Ryan High School , Minot City Auditorium , Magic City Campus, Minot City Armory

Dancing for Special Stars

Join us for the 9th annual Dancing for Special Stars event in Grand Forks! “Dancing for Special Stars” is a dance contest patterned after the hit television program “Dancing with the Stars.” This event is a fundraiser for Special Olympics North Dakota (SOND) and will feature area celebrities paired with local dance instructors. Each couple will perform a dance of their choice.

Special Olympics North Dakota will be running a car wash at Culver's (3451 32nd Ave S, Grand Forks, ND 58201). This fundraiser is free-will donations and is being held by the Area IV program.
