Special Olympics North Dakota (SOND) allows individuals with intellectual disabilities to share their skills through the joy of sports. SOND provides year-round sports opportunities to more than 1,600 athletes and unified partners, of any age and skill level, across the state. How to Donate Your Car
Step 1: Provide Vehicle Information
- Fill out the donation form with information about your vehicle, including the VIN,
year, make, model, condition, and mileage.
Step 2: Schedule Car Pick Up
- Tell us where your car will be picked up. A local tow agent will call you within 2-3
business days to schedule a pick up time most convenient for you. Your car will be towed for
free!
Step 3: Get Tax Receipt
- Once you complete the donation form, you will receive a confirmation email that
gives you access to your Donor Console. Through the Donor Console, you’ll be able to track the
progress of your car donation, upload documents, and get tax and title information. After your
car is sold, you’ll receive an email which includes a tax receipt.

There are many car donation programs on the internet making heartfelt appeals for
vehicles, but only a small number of these programs actually make a difference to the charity.
Special Olympics North Dakota offers complete transparency on where your car donation is
going, who it’s helping, and how it’s going to get there.
What types of vehicles can I donate?
We gratefully accept almost all running and non-running car donations. We also
accept donated trucks, SUVs, motorcycles, boats, snowmobiles, planes, heavy machinery,
trailers and RV's on a case-by-case basis. If you have any questions about a vehicle you’d like

How much money will SOND receive from my car donation?
Many charity car donation programs promise to help the charities but are run by
third-party processors that return very little to the charity. Our partners at Advanced
Remarketing Services return 75-80% of the gross selling price for your car donation back to
Special Olympics, the highest of any vehicle donation program!
Is a car donation tax deductible?
Your car donation may be eligible for a tax deduction. If your car sells for over $500,
you may deduct the full selling price of the car. If your car sells for $500 or less, you can deduct
$500 or your car's fair market value, whichever is less. Within 30 days of the sale of your
vehicle, you will receive an email with a tax receipt that states:
- The gross selling price of your car, if sold for greater than $500.
- Vehicle year, make, model, and VIN.
- A statement that the vehicle was sold at arms-length between two unrelated parties.
- A statement that no goods or services were received in return for your donation.
