Call Out for Pie!

Special Olympics Grand Forks has their annual Pie and Ice Cream Social this Sunday at Holy Family Church. If you’re a pie-making master, an amateur pie-artist, or the beginning pie-making journeyman, we need your help!

A crucial element of a Pie and Ice Cream Social is the pie. So, if you would, let us know if you are willing and able to make and donate a pie. We’ve created a link below for keeping track of varieties (so we don’t end up with all lemon meringue).

If it doesn’t work for you to drop off your pie, just give us a heads up and we can pick it up.

Information about 2012 State Basketball Tournament

To: Athletes, Families, Care Providers and Coaches
From: Meredith Baumann, Area 5 Director
Date: 3/1/12

We are approaching our last few practices for this basketball season. It has been a good practice season. We had a wonderful number of Athletes and coaches this year. I thank all of the coaches for the time they have given us.

We are leaving for Minot on Friday 3/9/12 at 5:30 a.m. SHARP. Please be at the State office parking lot by 5:20 a.m. We will return to Grand Forks around 5:00 or 6:00 p.m. on Saturday 3/10/12. The time is an estimate and we will have someone give your rides a call so that you can be picked up promptly after we arrive home.

Please label your coats and suitcases with your name, so that identification of these items will be easier for loading and unloading, both in Minot and when we get back to Grand Forks.

You must have your own black shorts or sweat pants and tennis shoes ready when you get off the bus as you will be playing on Friday morning. You will get a uniform top from your coach to wear during tournament games. If you want to wear a t shirt under your jersey, we recommend a black.

Jewelry will not be allowed to be worn during competition. Please pack warm clothes as the weather may change.

If you have medications that you need help with during the trip, they must be packaged in individual bags and identified with your name, the name of the medication and the time and date it is to be given. Our volunteers will not give suppositories, rectal creams, or similar preparations. Please bring your own supply of gloves if other lotions are to be applied.

While in Minot, we will be staying at the Vegas 701-839-3000. Please call me if you have any questions before we leave. I can be reached at 772-8626 after 5 p.m. daily or e-mail me at area5sond@hotmail.com.

Let’s get ready to have fun in Minot!
